Casablanca is often overlooked as a travel destination, since most tourists coming to Morocco aim to visit Marrakech, Fes, Chefchaouen, the Sahara, or the Atlas Mountains. This city is the place where most travellers land first so instead of skipping it and immediately hopping on a train to another city, I suggest staying here for at least a day just like what we did. Our stay in Casablanca was brief, but did require an overnight accommodation.
If you have never visited Casablanca before, here’s a little information. The city is serviced by two train stations – Casa Voyageurs and Casa Port. The former is the main and the largest railway station in Morocco, serviced by suburban, regional and long-distance trains. The latter, on the other hand, is located in the heart of the city of Casablanca, which is closer to most hotels and dining options. Located near the port area as well, hence the name. If you’re looking for modern and upscale hotels, then you will want to stay near Casa Port. That’s where our home away from home in Casablanca is located.

About Odyssee Center Hotel
Odyssee Center Hotel is a 4 star hotel located in the business and cultural center of Casablanca along Avenue des Far. The hotel is just 5-minute walk from the Casa Port Station and about 45 minutes by train from Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport (CMN). It offers easy access to the Old Medina, Hassan II Mosque and the Corniche. Rated 4.5 in TripAdvisor, Odyssee Center Hotel features a 24-hour front-desk, lobby, restaurant, bar, air-conditioned rooms and facilities, which are all completely new, modern and beautifully appointed.
Arrival and Check-in
The staff members at the Odyssee Center Hotel are fantastic and will reach out to you immediately upon arrival. They were friendly and offered to help us with any tourist-related questions. Check-in was quick and easy. The best part? They let us check-in to our rooms early at 10 in the morning, which was such a nice gesture. After 20+ hours of travel, checking in early was heaven sent!
Deluxe Queen Room – Our Home Away from Home
On this trip, my friend and I were booked into a Deluxe Queen Room on the seventh floor. The high ceiling gives the room a greater sense of space. It was bright and airy, furnished with quality and stylish furniture, a comfortable queen size bed with high-quality mattress, flat-screen television, desk, safety box, and a large window with views of the city. The wardrobe area was big with a table and two chairs, which is probably my favourite feature of the room.
Most hotels now replace closets with hooks on the wall to save space so I was really surprised to see a big wardrobe in our room. It gave us plenty of space to spread out our luggage and plan our daily OOTD looks for the next coming days.
Small But Well-Appointed Bathroom
The bathroom is on the small side, but we never felt claustrophobic or anything. Most importantly, it was clean and well-appointed. It has a rainfall shower head, which I absolutely loved! The towels were made of fine cotton, super absorbent and exceptionally soft. The shower gels were placed in a wall-installed container, which I like because I’m not a fan of body care essentials in tiny little bottles (let’s say no to plastics!). I was hoping for a tub but our room had a walk-in shower instead. I guess that is how a contemporary or modern bathroom looks like now.
*Note: I found out that my friends room, a Twin Deluxe Room, had a tub but they don’t have a big wardrobe area.
Breakfast Buffet
We stayed in a room with free breakfast, which we availed the next morning. There was a small selection of hot items including oriental scrambled eggs with tomatoes, potato wedges, grilled chicken sausages, smoked bacon, pancakes, sautéed tomatoes with inions and bell pepper, among others. There is an extensive selection, though, of bread, cheeses, olives, cereals, fresh fruits and vegetables, and cold cuts. A seasonal selection of fruit juices are also available.
Overall Experience
Overall, I love Odyssee Center Hotel. I love its location, which is easily accessible by train or taxi from the airport. It allowed us to conveniently see the city’s famous attractions without going far from our base. The staff were all very helpful and we managed to get by without speaking French or Arabic. And let’s face it (especially to my Filipino readers), 70 euros or about 4,000 pesos a night for a Queen Deluxe Room in a 4-star hotel sounds like a pretty sweet deal, don’t you agree?
