Sofia’s Lake Resort in Cavinti, Laguna

Embracing the joys of adulting, my vacation priorities have shifted. Gone are the days of roughing it out in a basic tent or a bunk bed. Now, I seek comfort in every getaway. I am so glad I discovered the newest lake resort in Cavinti, Laguna, where I indulged in the comforts I deserve. If you are looking for a lake resort for your next trip, then you have come to the right place. Here’s my experience at Sofia’s Lake Resort.

About Sofia’s Lake Resort

Situated on the shores of Lumot Lake, Sofia’s Lake Resort offers a serene lakeside holiday experience. The moment you arrive, you’ll be greeted by an amazing view of Sierra Madre Mountain Range, the iconic Mt. Banahaw and the adjacent Mt. Cristobal. With four luxurious villas and 14 glamping tents to choose from, Sofia’s Lake Resort is perfect for travelers looking for quality accommodation and exciting outdoor activities.

Lumot Lake of Cavinti, Laguna

According to one of the resort staff, who is also a resident of Cavinti, Lumot Lake was once a rice field with numerous small rivers encompassing it. During intense rainfalls, these rivers would frequently overflow, prompting the residents, in collaboration with the local government unit, to transform the area into a man-made lake. Subsequently named Lumot Lake, it served as the bedrock of the town’s fishing industry.

Things to do in Cavinti, Laguna

Cavinti is a haven of natural wonders. Go ‘shooting the rapids’ at the iconic Cavinti Falls (Pagsanjan Falls). Feeling adventurous? Delve into less popular destinations of Laguna which are Cavinti Cave (Cavinti Underground River and Caves Complex) and Cansuso Falls. If you’re short on time and wanted to stop for a quick photo op, go to Bumbungan River Ecopark instead.

ActivityRate/Fee (as of July 2023)
Cavinti Falls270 pesos (entrance fee)
1,250 pesos (shooting the rapids boat tour)
Cavinti Cave650 pesos (entrance fee)
1,000 pesos (tour guide fee good for up to 8 people)
Bumbungan Eco-Park30 pesos (entrance fee)
Cansuso FallsNo entrance fee
500-1,000 pesos (tour guide fee – no standard fee so pay whatever amount you can)

Sofia’s Lake Resort provides easy access to Cavinti’s best tourist attractions. However, one of the truest joys I found in this resort was by simply lounging by the lake. Aside from the private veranda, there are plenty of spots where you can just enjoy the view while sipping some fruit juice or cocktails.

Activities at Sofia’s Lake Resort

While there are many nature trips to choose from in Cavinti, Sofia’s Lake Resort offers an array of exhilarating water activities to satisfy an adventurous traveler. For those seeking a burst of adrenaline, jet skiing is the perfect choice. For a more chill and relaxing experience, stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking are great options. Looking for an activity unique to Lumot Lake? Try to catch a largemouth bass (LMB) or tilapia! Fishing equipment is available at the resort for a minimal fee.

My Experience at Sofia’s Lake Resort

Although I typically enjoy squeezing in quick trips to nearby towns for sightseeing, this time, I made a conscious decision not to do so. Personally, all I wanted was to stay in the resort, unwind, and bask in pure relaxation, making adventurous pursuits out of the question. How could I resist? The resort itself is a captivating place, and the views of Mt. Banahaw, Mt. Cristobal and Sierra Madre are absolutely breathtaking.

In this digital age, staying connected is essential. Fortunately, the resort provided modern amenities like WiFi, a TV, and a Bluetooth speaker. I had the freedom to enjoy my favorite music and catch up on my favorite shows, all while immersed in the beauty of nature. Nevertheless, who needs such conveniences with this stunning view from the bed? Honestly, this villa is an ideal choice for an unplugged vacation.

Luxurious bath at the villa

Amidst the serene ambiance of the villa, one feature stood out – the bathtub overlooking Lumot Lake. If there’s one thing I’d recommend to anyone staying this lakeside villa, it’s to savor the moment at the bathtub. Make sure to pack bath bombs and scented candles, because that’s what I missed!

Free Kawa Hot Bath and Foot Bath after Water Activities

The resort pampers guests with a complimentary kawa hot bath and foot bath, available upon request. After our water activities, I seized the chance. The warm water and serene ambiance were a perfect remedy for my tired body. It was very relaxing, enhancing my lakeside experience with a touch of luxury.

Resident Cat of Sofia’s Lake Resort

My experience at the resort became even more delightful when we encountered a resident cat at Kawayan Cafe. For those who adore feline companions, the presence of this cat would undoubtedly enhance your stay. Just like I did!

Full board meals at Sofia’s Lake Resort

The resort stay comes complete with full board meals, enhancing the overall experience. I particularly appreciate the convenience of not having to cook, allowing me to wholly embrace the vacation vibe. Let me share some of the delectable culinary delights I savored during my time at the resort.

From breakfast to dinner, every plate was a masterpiece, prepared with locally sourced ingredients. The fusion of traditional and contemporary flavors was a delightful journey for my taste buds. Kudos to Chef!

The best ube halaya champorado!!!

The resort also offers Filipino Boodle Fight, a captivating culinary heritage of the Philippines. Imagine this feast set up on your private veranda, where you can gaze out over the lake. Or, for an even more memorable adventure, you can opt for the Boodle Fight experience on a pontoon boat, gliding serenely across the Lumot Lake with the views of Mt. Banahaw in the backdrop. This is what my friends and I did!

The Boodle Fight doesn’t come with the room rate but can be arranged for a fee.
